Welcome to the Cancer Journeys Foundation. I am Robert Hess, a founder, and a 17-year cancer survivor. I have a lot of personal experience with cancer: my father died of lung cancer; my older sister died of pancreatic cancer, and my younger sister is in her third year as a Stage 3 breast cancer survivor.
The Cancer Journeys Foundation mission is to provide the knowledge, support, and community that cancer survivors need to develop and implement cancer survivorship plans and cancer survivor journey maps.
I know from personal experience the emotional lows of a cancer diagnosis and I have experienced first-hand the challenges in finding information and support in dealing with a cancer diagnosis. No one should have to face cancer alone. That’s our mission – to be there for cancer survivors.
We are guided by the same spirit that drove one of the world’s great wartime leaders . . .
“Never, never, never give up.”
We chose the sunflower as the theme for our website because of its symbolic meanings of healing, nourishment, longevity, and faith.
Please take a few minutes to visit the various elements of our website, including our Events tab. Exercise is a critical element in preventing cancer and its return. We’re developing a nationwide walking program, beginning here in Manhattan Beach, California. You can walk with us on Tuesday and Sunday mornings. [Manhattan Beach #StopCancerWalks.]
We look forward to seeing you there.
